Cosmetic dentistry is becoming more popular, and a few reality shows have shown how a dentist can change practically anyone’s teeth to give them the smile they want.

Procedures:

Not every procedure listed below will work for everyone. Your dentist can assist you in determining which method will best enhance your smile.

  • Cosmetic Teeth Whitening: This process, sometimes called  “teeth bleaching,” helps brighten and whiten discolored or stained teeth. It can be completed at the dentist’s office or at home. Because not everyone’s teeth can be bleached, it’s important to consult your dentist beforehand.
  • Cosmetic Dental Veneers: Veneers are a thin porcelain or composite material shell that covers the teeth. They’re custom-made and glued to the front of the tooth. A veneer can be used to correct dental issues such as a slightly misaligned tooth, discolored teeth, chipped teeth or even gaps between teeth.
  • Cosmetic Dental Implants: A dental implant is a metal post that replaces a lost tooth. The device is often composed of titanium and surgically implanted into the jawbone where the missing tooth is located. A dental implant can anchor artificial teeth, such as a crown, bridge or denture, by acting as the root.
  • Cosmetic Dental Crowns: Crowns, also known as caps, are custom-made to fit over your entire tooth after it has been prepped by a cosmetic dentist. To endure biting pressure, they are commonly made from acrylic or porcelain that has been fused to metal. Crowns are used in aesthetic dentistry to fix teeth that are misshapen, damaged, cracked, chipped or have large fillings, as well as to close gaps between teeth.
  • Cosmetic Teeth Shaping: A cosmetic dentist can modify the tooth by filling or removing some of the enamel, sometimes known as “enamel shaping.” This procedure is usually painless and has immediate results.
  • Cosmetic Tooth Bonding: Bonding is the procedure of adhering tooth-colored materials to the tooth. This is a procedure for repairing or improving the appearance of a tooth that has been discolored, fractured or chipped.

Bonding is one of the simplest and most affordable cosmetic dental procedures. The bonding composite resin can be sculpted and polished to fit the surrounding teeth. Bonding is sometimes used as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings or to shield a section of a tooth’s root that has become exposed due to gum recession.

Also, The composite resin used in bonding isn’t as robust as real tooth enamel. The substance can be chipped by biting your fingernails or chewing on ice or pencils. Bonding often lasts several years before it needs to be repaired, but this depends on the amount of bonding done and your oral habits.

  • Cosmetic Orthodontic Treatment: Orthodontics is not only for children. Adults are increasingly getting orthodontic treatment for cosmetic reasons. Ask your dentist if an orthodontist can help you if you have buck teeth or crooked teeth.
